Glass Balustrades

Glass balustrades work particularly well with open and contemporary staircases, maintaining sightlines and allowing light to move through the stair void. From clean frameless designs to more complex installations, the glass can be integrated with timber, steel and custom handrails to suit the overall staircase design.

This is also where Between 2 Floors offers builders something different. We’re one of the only staircase companies on the Sunshine Coast handling glass balustrades in-house, rather than completing the stairs and leaving the builder to organise a separate glass contractor.

Having the staircase and glass coordinated together means fewer trades around the stair void, one point of responsibility and a finished result where all the components are designed to work together.

Timber Balustrades

Timber balustrades bring warmth and character to a staircase and can work just as comfortably in a contemporary home as they do in a more traditional design.

We work with a range of timber species, allowing the balustrade and handrail to be coordinated with the staircase treads, flooring and other timber finishes throughout the project.

Profiles, spacing and stain can all be considered as part of the overall staircase design, creating a timber balustrade that feels like it belongs rather than something added at the end.

Aluminium Balustrades

Aluminium balustrades offer a clean, durable option where the design calls for a more streamlined or contemporary finish.

They can be powder coated to complement other elements within the build and incorporated into the staircase design alongside timber, steel and other finishes.

For builders, aluminium also provides a practical option where durability and low maintenance are important, without compromising the overall look of the staircase.

Like glass, aluminium balustrades are another area where Between 2 Floors offers builders something different. We coordinate the manufacture with our fabricators, then install the balustrade ourselves as part of the staircase, keeping everything within the stair package and giving the builder one team responsible for coordinating the job.

Screens

Timber or Aluminium · Architectural Detail · Made to Match · Integrated Design

Screens can be incorporated alongside a staircase or standalone to define the space while adding another architectural element to the overall design.

Made in timber or aluminium, they can be designed to complement the staircase, balustrade and surrounding finishes, rather than looking like a separate addition.

The materials, spacing and detailing can all be worked through together for a more cohesive finished result. Custom screen designs are also available, including slanted vertical profiles where the project calls for a more distinctive architectural detail.
